This is the latest pencil drawing that im working on, this one will measure 11″x14″. Its another big cat. I just love drawing these beautiful animals. I love the challenge of all the hair and the textures. This cat is not as popular as the more recognized ones, such as tiger, lion or jaguar. I decided to draw this cat because of its unique beauty. What caught my attention from these cats were their eyes. They have such incredible eyes, they are large and so full of life. So far i have done the eyes only and i tried to put in as much detail as possible. I used the same techniques explained in the “drawing realistic cat eyes” tutorial. So if you read that tutorial you can have a better idea of how i went about getting the detail.
I believe that you can’t give life to an drawing without adding that special spark to their eyes. You can have just the outline of an animal, but if you are able to capture the eyes, you won’t need anything else to bring the drawing to life. All i have so far in this drawing are the eyes and you can see what im talking about. The detail that i will be adding to this drawing will be like no other. I want to draw the hair as realistic as possible but without losing the feel of a pencil drawing. There isn’t much that i can explain in what i have so far, but with each update i will give a brief description on the technique and how to go about adding details. Well i hope you enjoy this update and if you have any questions please leave a comment. If you enjoy this post please share with others. Thank you.

This is the drawing that im working on at the moment. This one measures 5×7. I love drawing cats, they look so amazing in pencil. The texture from their fur and the beautiful designs in their eyes makes them so unique. I haven’t been able to work on it as much since ive been writing tutorials, but hopefully it will be done within the next couple of days. I’ll be writing tutorials just on cats, from how to draw the fur to how to get those shiny beautiful eyes that cats are so known for. Like with all my other drawings, i like to work in layers. I usually start off with a base and start adding detail over that. Like I’ve mentioned before, when you understand what you are drawing you, the drawing comes to life. Study photographs, they are helpful in creating beautiful drawings. Just with this cat I’ve used dozens of reference photos, they have helped in adding realism. I’ll do as much as possible to help you, so if you have any questions please comment or contact me.
