This was a fun drawing. It took me a while to complete this one because i spent quite some time adding small details, such as fine hairs. I was going to leave the background white but im glad i made it black because it makes the tiger jump out more. It was a 4 step process for the background. I laid down a light layer with charcoal pencil and blended that in evenly. I repeated this step and it gave me a dark gray. From there I covered the whole area in charcoal by applying more pressure, trying not to leave any white spots. Over the charcoal I added a final layer with 8b. This last layer took me the longest because I was adding it with more pressure and had to make sure it covered every bit of paper. It gave me a really deep black and I’m happy with the way it turned out. This pencil drawing measures 11″x14″.
