This was more of a practice drawing than anything else. These are two cats that i enjoy to draw and so i thought why not draw them in one. I enjoy sci-fi and fantasy movies, like lord of the rings. They interest me because of the creative monsters and animals that are portrayed in those movies. I have always wanted to combine different animals to create a new one. This not only allows me to make something new but also gives me the opportunity to understand and compare the differences between the two animals. In the case of a lion and tiger i found that the tiger has a wider face and finer hair. I know that there are already ligers which look more like giant tigers, so i thought id make a drawing that showed the two animals easily recognizable. Even though they do blend in, you can tell where the tiger and lion is. It was a great project and hopefully i can work get to do more work like this. Well i hope you enjoy it and if you have any questions please contact me.

This beautiful lion will be part of a limited editions series of big cats. This one has been one of my favorite drawings that i have worked on. I love the textures and the pose that it has. It gives the lion a majestic beautiful look. This is the first drawing where i used the stylus to draw hair, its a technique that has helped improving adding realism to my drawings. You can read the tutorial here. I hope you enjoy this one as much as i enjoyed it.

Features can tell alot about a person. Just like wrinkles on an old person shows wisdom and age, on animals features can also tell alot. You can tell from this lion that he is an old one, that has lived and has struggled, but has survived. That scar on his nose shows the struggles that it has endured.
